Partner portalControl relay integration of AC units
Control relay integration of AC units connects the guest room management system to heating or cooling units. The integration is done with a potential-free relay connected to the DALI bus and it requires installing the relay in all guest rooms where integration is needed.
How it works in a guest room
Room status | Information flow | Events |
---|---|---|
Occupied | Control relay → AC unit | Mount Kelvin turns the lights on and sends an input signal to the AC unit to change its state to mode 1. |
Unoccupied | Control relay → AC unit | Mount Kelvin turns the lights off and sends an input signal to the AC unit to change its state to mode 2. |
Mode 1 Relay is closed
Temperature goes to setpoint and fan speed is set to a medium setting. Guests can use the thermostat to set the temperature and fan speed to their preferred temperature.
Mode 2 Relay is open
Cooling/heating is set off and the fan speed is set to a low setting. Guests cannot use the thermostat to set the temperature or fan speed.
The AC unit control system must be programmed to receive an input signal from the control relay. Most modern AC units offer a control system variant that supports relay-based control.

Installation
The relay unit is potential-free, and voltage input can be connected to the AC control unit voltage output (Circuit A). Alternatively, if the AC control unit control input can accept 230V AC, the relay can be used to provide a 230V output signal (Circuit B).
